J&K Police Takes Decisive Action Against Drug Peddlers: Property Attached
In a significant move against drug peddlers, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached a residential house and vehicles belonging to notorious individuals involved in illicit drug activities in the frontier Poonch district.
Identification of Culprits and Property
The police spokesperson identified the individuals as Mehmood Hussain, Zaffer Iqbal, and Javid Iqbal, sons of Talib Hussain, residents of Deri Dabsi, currently residing at Kotian Mendhar. The attached property includes a double-storied residential house and motor vehicles, collectively valued in lakhs.
Legal Basis for Attachment
Under section 68-F of the NDPS Act 1985, the residential house and vehicles were attached as they were deemed illegally acquired during the course of the investigation/enquiry conducted by Poonch Police. The spokesperson stated that the property was prima facie accrued from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Criminal Involvement and Legal Background
The drug peddlers, Mehmood Hussain, Zaffer Iqbal, and Javid Iqbal, have been identified as involved in various cases under the NDPS Act, including FIRs registered in different police stations like Nowabad Jammu, Mendhar, and Gursai.
