Kishtwar, Oct. 18, 2024 — In a continued effort to clamp down on illegal activities, District Police Kishtwar successfully apprehended a bootlegger in the Gujjar Basti area of Padyarna, seizing 98 bottles of illicit liquor. Acting on specific intelligence about illegal liquor sales targeting the youth of the Nagseni area, the police quickly organized a raid.

A team led by Inspector Firdous Ahmed, SHO of Police Station Kishtwar, along with IC PP Padyarna and under the supervision of senior officers, conducted the operation.

They were joined by the Executive Magistrate of Nagseni to ensure transparency during the search. The team raided the suspected bootlegger’s residence, recovering 98 bottles of JK Desi Whiskey, amounting to 59 liters of illegal alcohol.

The accused, identified as Guddu Kumar, son of Ramesh Kumar, originally from Pullar Nagseni and currently residing in Gujjar Basti Padyarna, was apprehended on the spot. Authorities swiftly registered a case, FIR No. 248/2024, under relevant sections of law at Police Station Kishtwar.

An investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the bootlegger’s network and whether he is linked to any larger operations in the region. This latest arrest is part of the District Police Kishtwar’s ongoing commitment to maintaining law and order, with a focus on curbing illegal trade activities.

Authorities have assured the public that they will remain vigilant in their efforts to combat the spread of illegal substances in the community.

The police are urging residents to report any suspicious activities in their areas as they work to ensure the safety and security of all.
