JK Police Capture Fugitive After Six Years on the Run in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, Sept 03, 2024 — In a significant breakthrough, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a fugitive who had been evading capture for the past six years. The arrest took place in Kishtwar district and is a testament to the police’s ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and security.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar revealed that the district police had gathered critical information about the absconder, Chander Karnail Singh, also known as Karan, from Phangota Bhalla in Doda District.
Following this lead, a specialized team was formed, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kishtwar Police Station and supervised by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters.
The team’s diligent efforts paid off, and Singh was finally apprehended. He was wanted in connection with a theft case registered under FIR No. 244/2018, Section 379 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) at the Kishtwar Police Station.
This arrest marks a significant success for the district police in their ongoing efforts to address and resolve long-standing criminal cases.
The SSP of Kishtwar emphasized a stern warning to other absconders, advising them to surrender at their nearest police station. He underscored that failure to do so would result in stringent legal actions under Sections 82 and 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr. PC).
This move underscores the police’s resolve to bring all fugitives to justice and uphold the law effectively.
