JK police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers in Sopore, Seize Banned Substances

Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two individuals for drug peddling and seized a substantial quantity of banned psychotropic substances from their possession in Sopore, North Kashmir. The arrests took place on Thursday during a routine patrol by the Police Post Fruit Mandi.
According to a police spokesperson, the officers from the Police Post, led by the In-Charge of the post, were patrolling the Nowpora Bypass Road when they noticed two people behaving suspiciously.
Upon searching the suspects, the police discovered 540 tablets of Alprazolam, a banned substance, in their possession.
Following the recovery of the illegal tablets, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 223/2024 at the Sopore Police Station. Investigations have been launched to determine the origin of the drugs and whether the arrested individuals are part of a larger drug trafficking network operating in the area.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes from the region. They have urged the general public to cooperate with the authorities by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug peddling or consumption.
The spokesperson emphasized that the police will continue to take strict action against individuals involved in drug-related activities and will ensure that offenders are dealt with in accordance with the law.
The police also reassured the community that efforts are being intensified to keep drugs off the streets, and they will take all necessary steps to protect the youth and the society from the menace of drug abuse.
