Qadir revealed that more than 100 domestic helper service providers had been registered under three crucial acts: the J&K Shops and Establishments Act, the Contract Labor Act, and the Industrial Mining Work Sector Act. This registration process was carried out meticulously, ensuring that all service providers adhered to the required documentation.

Prompted by incidents from the previous year, the district administration took swift action in response. In line with their directives, all service providers registered with the Labor Department under any of the aforementioned acts are mandated to fulfill specific formalities.

Qadir outlined the essential formalities that service providers must complete by November 15th. They are required to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from various departments, including the Child Welfare Committee, the Anti-Trafficking Committee, and the Anti-Child Trafficking Unit of the police department. Additionally, they must provide a list of house owners to whom they have supplied domestic helpers. House owners are also urged to verify the registration status of the maids, servants, or others working in their homes.

Strict Measures Against Non-Compliance

Addressing concerns about service providers who have not registered with the Labor Department and are employing minors, Qadir emphasized the seriousness of the matter. Field officers have been instructed to take legal action against such violators. Those found with minors in their employ may face a fine of Rs 10,000 and up to one year of imprisonment.

This stern warning from the government underscores the importance of regulating domestic help service providers to ensure the welfare and safety of domestic helpers and to prevent the exploitation of minors.
