JK CEO Reviews Election Readiness in Kishtwar, Emphasizes Transparency

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu & Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, IAS, conducted a comprehensive review of election preparedness in Kishtwar District on September 6, 2024. In a meeting at the Mini Secretariat, he discussed various aspects of the upcoming Assembly Elections with Nodal Officers, focusing on the 48-Inderwal, 49-Kishtwar, and 50-Paddar Nagseni constituencies.
During the meeting, District Election Officer (DEO) Rajesh Kumar Shavan provided a detailed presentation on the district’s election profile, covering key areas like electorate count, polling station arrangements, and the implementation of SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) activities aimed at enhancing voter engagement.
Senior officials, including SSP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom, were also present to discuss law and order, security protocols, and the deployment of polling staff.
The CEO emphasized the need for ongoing SVEEP campaigns to maximize voter turnout through targeted outreach, including door-to-door campaigns and the involvement of local influencers like teachers, youth, and students.
He also stressed the importance of transparency in home voting for elderly and disabled voters and instructed for the timely distribution of voter slips by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The CEO inspected the district’s strong rooms, counting centers, and other election-related facilities, ensuring they were prepared for the upcoming elections. He urged strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct and instructed Nodal Officers to monitor for any violations.
In addition, the CEO participated in a SVEEP awareness program at Chowgan Ground, where a cultural skit, plantation drive, and the unveiling of the “Lok Sabha Election 2024” Coffee Table Book took place.
