Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, emphasized the pivotal role of universities in shaping the future, stating that in the 21st century, ideas will be the new wealth of nations. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of ‘Goonj-2024’, hosted by the University of Jammu, Sinha highlighted the significance of universities as hubs for creativity and innovation.
Expanding Role of Universities in the 21st Century
Sinha underscored that universities and colleges are no longer mere academic institutions but rather platforms for nurturing young minds poised to change the world. He stressed the importance of collaboration and creativity in fostering a conducive environment for changemakers.“In order to make educational institutions relevant in the future, teachers should ignite the creativity within the students and make their consciousness pure, simple, easy, and independent,” he added.
Focus on Relevant Subjects and Innovation for Societal Benefit
Moreover, Sinha emphasized the need for universities to focus on relevant subjects, research, and innovation to contribute meaningfully to the transformation of villages and towns. He advocated for an education system that inspires adventurous exploration and a passion for generating new ideas, research, and innovations.
Sinha’s remarks resonated with the vision of creating educational environments that nurture not only academic excellence but also the spirit of innovation and social responsibility. As the world progresses into an era driven by ideas, the role of universities in shaping the future of nations becomes increasingly vital.
