Jammu and Kashmir Administration Delivers Land Documents to Landless Recipients as Part of PMAY Initiative
In a significant step towards addressing the housing needs of the landless population in Jammu and Kashmir, the administration commenced the distribution of land documents under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY). This vital initiative aims to provide eligible beneficiaries with land for constructing their homes, fostering socio-economic growth in the region.
The Distribution Ceremony: A Hopeful Beginning
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over the distribution ceremony, symbolizing a beacon of hope for those who have long yearned for a place to call home. During the event, he personally handed over land documents, each representing 5 marlas of land, to selected beneficiaries.

Guarding Against Demographic Changes

He urged elected representatives to be vigilant and ensure that the benefits reach deserving local residents rather than outsiders.Sinha voiced his frustration with those who exploit every issue for political gain, even something as crucial as housing for the landless.
He highlighted the importance of focusing on development and progress, emphasizing that this initiative would strengthen the rural economy and the social fabric of Jammu and Kashmir.
A New Dawn for Rural Jammu and Kashmir
The distribution of land documents not only fulfills a long-standing need but also sets the stage for the transformation of rural areas. Sinha expressed his commitment to providing city-like facilities in villages, promoting overall development and improved living standards.
Gratitude and Optimism from Beneficiaries
Mohammad Aslam, a resident of Khanpur Panchayat in Nagrota area of Jammu, shared his gratitude for the opportunity provided by the LG. He mentioned that around 600 families in his area would benefit from the government’s decision, ending their decades-long struggle for a permanent residence.
Rafeeq Ahmad, a beneficiary from Kishtwar district, expressed profound relief and joy after receiving land documents. His family had endured seven decades of uncertainty and struggle, and now they could finally embark on the journey to construct their own home.
