Iran Threatens to Target US Data Centres, AI Facilities and Undersea Cables in Gulf if War Resumes

TEHRAN, October 12, 2026, [VoM News]: Iran has warned that American data centres, artificial intelligence facilities and communication cables across the Gulf region could become targets if military hostilities with the United States resume.

Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei issued the warning during a 30-minute interview broadcast by state-owned Press TV, discussing Tehran’s military preparedness, diplomatic relations with Washington and the Strait of Hormuz.

Rezaei claimed that the United States maintains strategically important technological infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates and surrounding areas, which Iran has not previously included among its potential targets.

However, he warned that these installations could face destruction in another confrontation.

“If war breaks out, many of these cables, data centres, artificial intelligence facilities and numerous other sites will be destroyed,” Rezaei said.

He described the facilities as vital to American economic interests in the region, estimating their combined value at more than $2 trillion.

Rezaei further claimed that Iran had deliberately withheld some of its military capabilities during earlier hostilities to preserve options for future operations.

He asserted that Tehran remained fully prepared to respond to renewed American attacks with a broader military strategy.

The remarks underline continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington despite ongoing diplomatic discussions.
