
Iran Closes Strait of Hormuz Again as US Launches Fresh Strikes
New Delhi, July 12 [VoM News]: Once again, the uncertainty has developed as Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz after one of its military warning shots struck a commercial vessel travelling through what Tehran described as an unauthorised route leading to the escalation in tensions with the United States giving a tough challange to the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
As per Assosiated Press report, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said several ships ignored instructions to follow approved navigation routes, prompting a warning shot that halted one vessel. Tehran announced the strategic waterway would remain closed until further notice and warned of possible action against additional targets if further attacks occur.
As per reports, shortly afterwards, the United States
Central Command confirmed it had launched a third round of strikes on Iranian targets.
There are reports of explosions near Bandar Abbas and Sirik along the Strait of Hormuz, as per Iranian media.
A Cyprus-flagged container ship sustained significant engine room damage and one civilian crew member was reported missing after being struck, as per the United States military.

On one side, Iranian and Omani officials aimed at ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, the latest escalation will turn deadly as the global flow gets badly affected.
On the other side, Iran has stated that the discussions focused on mechanisms to secure maritime traffic are going on, while Oman confirmed dialogue would continue.
The Strait of Hormuz which handles a significant share of global oil and natural gas shipments, to which any disruption would mean a major concern for international energy markets.
Meanwhile, the United States has maintained its stance that restoring secure passage through the strategic waterway will the key factor for the progress in negotiations with Iran.
