Inzamam-ul-Haq Resigns as Pakistan Chief Selector Amidst World Cup Struggles
In a recent development, Pakistan’s chief selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq, announced his resignation midway through the ODI World Cup due to the team’s poor performance in the ongoing tournament. Pakistan has faced four consecutive losses after two initial wins and is teetering on the brink of elimination from the World Cup. Currently, Pakistan holds the sixth position in the points table with 4 points from six games.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also established a five-member committee to investigate allegations of conflict of interest related to the team selection process. The committee will conduct a thorough inquiry and provide recommendations to the PCB Management promptly.
Pakistan’s four consecutive losses in World Cup matches, including defeats against India, Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa, mark a challenging period for the team in the tournament.
