India’s Persistent Diplomacy on Kartarpur Corridor Fee Issue
Amidst the ongoing diplomatic dialogues, India’s stance on the Kartarpur Corridor fee remains firm. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has consistently voiced its discontent over the $20 charge imposed by Pakistan for corridor access. Despite the continuous efforts and dialogues, there has been no response from Islamabad regarding this concern. MEA spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, emphasized the significance of the issue for India, indicating persistent endeavors to address the matter with the neighboring nation.
Ceasefire Violations and Security Concerns
The MEA also took a strong stance against the ceasefire violations and instances of cross-border infiltration attributed to Pakistan. These activities were labeled as direct breaches of the bilateral agreements between the two countries. Highlighting the security implications, Bagchi shared that the Border Security Force (BSF) actively engaged with their Pakistani counterparts in flag meetings and through various diplomatic channels to address these incidents.
Sensitive Developments in Qatar’s Judicial Proceedings
In a different vein, the MEA addressed the delicate situation concerning eight former Indian naval officers facing capital punishment in Qatar. With the judgment still under wraps, the MEA has cautioned against conjecture and confirmed that an appeal is in progress. The Indian embassy has been granted consular access, underscoring the attentive involvement of Indian authorities in the proceedings.
India’s Advocacy for Peace Amidst Israel-Hamas Conflict
Navigating through the complexities of international conflict, India has reiterated its call for the release of hostages in the Israel-Hamas situation. The MEA has urged for a de-escalation of tensions and a resumption of direct peace talks. India’s approach reflects a commitment to a peaceful two-state resolution and expresses concern over the civilian casualties, while welcoming efforts aimed at reducing hostilities and providing humanitarian aid.
