
Indian Navy Makes History with First-Ever Victory in Inter-Services Athletics Tournament
Historic Victory for Indian Navy
In a historic achievement, the Indian Navy emerged victorious in the Inter-Services Athletics tournament, marking their first-ever win in 72 years, according to an official statement. The tournament, which showcased exceptional athletic talent and sportsmanship, was hosted at the Artillery Centre in Hyderabad from September 25 to 28, 2023.
Inter-Services Athletics Meet
The Inter-Services Athletics Meet brought together dedicated athletes representing the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. While the Army Services Team fielded two teams, the Navy and Air Force each fielded one team. Over four intense days, these athletes competed in 14 track events and 9 field events, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to excellence.

A Showcase of Skill and Unity
The tournament took place at the foothills of the renowned Golconda Fort, bearing witness to remarkable displays of skill, determination, and unity among the athletes of the three services. It featured closely contested races and remarkable exhibitions of strength and agility, emphasizing not only athleticism but also the spirit of camaraderie and discipline that defines the Armed Forces.
Selection for National and International Events
The annual championship, conducted under the auspices of the Services Sports Control Board, aimed to select services sportsmen for representation in National and International Athletics events. Major General Rakesh Manocha, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, presided as the Chief Guest on the final day, congratulating the athletes for their stellar performance.
Best Athlete Award
MP Jabir, CPO from the Indian Navy, was recognized as the Best Athlete among the Services, showcasing outstanding skills and dedication to his sport. The event concluded with the presentation of a trophy to the Indian Navy Team, securing their historic victory in the championship.This achievement reflects the Indian Navy’s commitment to excellence in sports and highlights the dedication and talent of the armed forces’ athletes.
