Under the leadership of captain Harmanpreet Singh, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team is gearing up for an intense campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as revealed by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in the unveiled schedule. The team is set to kick off its journey on July 27 against New Zealand, followed by matches against Argentina, Ireland, Belgium, and Australia in the group stage of Pool B.

    Challenging Pool B Oppositions

Ranked world No. 4, India faces formidable opponents in Pool B, including Olympic Champions Belgium (world No. 2), Australia (world No. 5), Argentina (world No. 7), New Zealand (world No. 10), and Ireland (world No. 12). Captain Harmanpreet Singh acknowledges the challenge, stating, “Competing in Pool B is going to be challenging, given the undeniable potential of every team to emerge victorious on any given day.”

    Unwavering Determination for Gold

Harmanpreet Singh expresses the team’s steadfast mental and physical preparation for the upcoming challenges. Reflecting on India’s historic Bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 after a 41-year gap, he emphasizes the team’s goal to upgrade the medal’s color by aiming for Gold. The focus remains on advancing through the group stage and securing a spot in the Quarter-Finals.

    Group Stage and Beyond

The tournament structure entails each team playing one match during the group stage, with the top four from each pool progressing to the Quarter-Finals. The anticipation for India’s journey in the Paris Olympics is high, especially after the team’s remarkable performance and Bronze win in Tokyo 2020.
