Indian Diplomacy Successful in Cultivating Relationships with Competing Powers: EAM Jaishankar
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted India’s significant diplomatic achievements, stressing the successful cultivation of relationships with diverse and often competing global powers.
Speaking at the Rashtriya Raksha University’s convocation, Jaishankar underscored the importance of identifying reliable partners amid challenging geopolitical landscapes.
He emphasized India’s diplomatic prowess in forging alliances with multiple competing powers, describing it as a noteworthy milestone for Indian diplomacy. Jaishankar also highlighted the positive impact of national development since 2014, particularly in addressing security-related inadequacies.
He pointed out that India’s national development has positively influenced internal, external, and border security.
Stressing the importance of capabilities related to defense and development, Jaishankar mentioned that such considerations are central to India’s business policies and diplomatic strategies.
He highlighted the crucial role of reliable partnerships during times of stress in India’s geopolitical calculations.
Jaishankar further emphasized the deep integration of security considerations into India’s diplomatic engagements with a competitive world.
He highlighted the broadened definition of national security, encompassing diverse aspects, and the significance of acquiring critical and emerging technologies in India’s geopolitical landscape.
Highlighting India’s evolving role as a credible and effective development partner, Jaishankar pointed out the country’s development portfolio extending across 78 nations. He emphasized India’s approach to development projects, characterized by demand-driven initiatives, transparency, empowerment, environmental consciousness, and a consultative approach.
The External Affairs Minister also highlighted India’s efforts in promoting digital public infrastructure and sharing digital governance best practices, particularly with nations in the Global South.
Jaishankar acknowledged the complexity of current international affairs and stressed India’s people-centric foreign policy guided by societal demands and aspirations. He noted that India’s voice resonates for peace, security, prosperity, and stability globally while ensuring robust defense of national interests.
