India, the United States, and South Korea have joined forces to coordinate measures aimed at safeguarding sensitive technologies and fostering trusted technology ecosystems, both regionally and globally. The inaugural trilateral technology dialogue, held in Seoul on Wednesday, signifies a significant step towards this collaborative effort.

Led by representatives such as Joint Secretary Lekhan Thakkar from the National Security Council Secretariat of India, Senior Director Tarun Chhabra from the US National Security Council, and Deputy National Security Advisor Wang Yunjong from the South Korean National Security Office, the dialogue focused on expanding cooperation on critical and emerging technologies.

    Shared Interests and Objectives

The three sides emphasized the importance of cooperation in critical and emerging technologies to support shared economic and national security interests. This includes fostering innovation, promoting economic growth, strengthening technology supply chains, and delivering technological solutions for the broader Indo-Pacific region.

    Discussion Areas

During the meeting, discussions centered on opportunities for collaboration in various sectors, including semiconductor supply chains, telecommunications, digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, space technology, advanced materials, clean energy, critical minerals, defense industrial development, production, and biotechnology, including pharmaceutical supply chains.

    Path Forward

The trilateral technology dialogue sets the stage for enhanced cooperation and collaboration among India, the United States, and South Korea in the field of critical and emerging technologies, contributing to economic growth, innovation, and security in the region and beyond.
