India and Russia Forge Deeper Ties in Defense, Nuclear, and Space Collaboration
India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, recently reaffirmed the robust partnership between India and Russia, emphasizing the profound trust underlying their collaborations in defense, nuclear, and space domains.
These vital partnerships are cultivated meticulously, predominantly with nations sharing a strong foundation of mutual trust.
Against the backdrop of current geopolitical developments, Jaishankar’s statement underscores the sustained cooperation between the two nations in these pivotal sectors.
Elevating Nuclear Power Cooperation
Notable agreements were sealed between India and Russia concerning the future construction of power-generating units at the Kudankulam nuclear power plant.
Following discussions with Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Denis Manturov, Jaishankar disclosed these agreements. The Kudankulam nuclear power plant, India’s largest, is being developed in Tamil Nadu with technical expertise from Russia and is anticipated to reach its full operational capacity by 2027.
