    Kishtwar, August 15, 2024 : The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and national pride across Kishtwar District. The main event took place at Chowgan Ground, where Smt.

    Pooja Thakur, the Hon’ble District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson of Kishtwar, served as the Chief Guest. She hoisted the National Flag, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Devansh Yadav (IAS) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shri Abdul Qayoom (JKPS). Together, they took the salute on an impressive March Past.

    The parade was commanded by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. SP) Headquarters Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta. Various contingents, including the District Police, Indian Reserve Police (IRP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Police Band from District Police Lines (DPL) Kishtwar, Forest Protection Force, National Cadet Corps (NCC) Cadets, and students from different schools across Kishtwar, actively participated in the parade.

    Following the March Past, a vibrant cultural program was presented by schoolchildren and local artists, adding color to the celebration.

    The event attracted thousands of people from all walks of life, including officers from the Police, Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and the civil administration, showcasing the unity and collaborative spirit of the district’s various agencies.

    In addition to the main event at Kishtwar, Independence Day celebrations were also held in other locations across the district, including Chatroo, Padder, Dachhan, Marwah, and Warwan.

    These events were conducted at the block, tehsil, and panchayat levels with equal enthusiasm and concluded peacefully across the district.
