Income Tax Raids Target Properties Linked to RJD MP Ahmad Ashfaque Karim and Milia Education Trust
Income Tax authorities conducted searches on properties associated with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Rajya Sabha MP Ahmad Ashfaque Karim in multiple locations across Bihar. Mr. Karim is the main trustee and the founder chancellor of Al Karim University in Katihar, Bihar. The exact details of the raids have not been disclosed.
Connection to Land-for-Job Scam Probe
Previously, the investigative agency had also conducted raids on Mr. Karim’s properties in connection with the land-for-job scam involving RJD chief Lalu Yadav and his family members.
Scope of the Search Operation
The Income Tax department stated that the search action began at the Al Karim Educational Trust, which oversees Al Karim University and Katihar Medical College. The trust also manages a school of paramedical and allied health sciences, a school of information technology, and management. Mr. Ahmad Ashfaque Karim, the founder chancellor of Al Karim University and a Rajya Sabha MP, serves as the main trustee. Multiple teams of Income Tax officers and officials from Bihar, Jharkhand, and Delhi have been deployed for the operation, with security provided by a central paramilitary force.
Investigation into Milia Education Trust
In a separate development, Income Tax officials also conducted searches on premises connected to the Purnea-based Milia Education Trust in Purnea, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur. The Milia Group of Purnea, which manages the Milia Educational Trust, is associated with trustees including Asad Imam, Syed Gulam Hussain, Quaisar Imam, Md. Wasim, Ozair Ahmad, and Javed Danish.
These search operations are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and compliance with tax regulations, and further details regarding the outcomes of these searches are yet to be revealed.
