Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to seven years in the “un-Islamic nikah” case. The trial court’s verdict at Adiala jail imposed a fine of PKR 500,000 each on the couple. Imran Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Gohar, called the allegations “shameless” and announced plans to challenge the verdict in the high court. The court relied on the second function, held for family and children, as the “valid nikah.” Imran Khan urged his supporters to remain peaceful and expressed his commitment to not make any deals.
