The Bomb Disposal Squad later relocated the IED to a secure location where it was defused by experts. Although initially labeled as a suspected device by SSP Kishtwar Khalil Poswal, further examination confirmed its nature. The successful defusal thwarted a potential terror attack in the hilly district, considering the IED’s capacity for extensive damage if not dealt with promptly.
For the duration of the operation, traffic on the Doda-Kishtwar National Highway was temporarily suspended. Authorities have registered a case related to the recovery of the explosive device, and efforts are underway to apprehend the individuals responsible for planting it. As of now, no arrests have been made.In recent times, the police in Kishtwar district have been consistently applying pressure on militants and their sympathizers, resulting in the arrest of several individuals and the confiscation of arms, ammunition, and explosives.
Despite these efforts, some Over Ground Workers (OGWs) remain active in certain areas of the district.
