In a significant achievement for indigenous weapon systems, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has conducted a successful test of the air-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. The test involved launching the missile from a Su-30MKI fighter jet, demonstrating the capability to strike targets at extended ranges. This air-launched BrahMos missile traveled over 1,500 km from a southern peninsula airbase to hit a target at longer ranges than before.

    Successful Test

The test involved the longer-range version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, developed through India’s partnership with the Russian industry. The Indian Air Force recently conducted two successful trials of the land attack missile system.

    Export Opportunities

India is exporting the BrahMos missiles to friendly countries like the Philippines for coastal defense. The BrahMos Aerospace corporation aims to export the missiles to more nations to meet export targets set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
