    GUJARAT, MAY 14, 2026 [VoM News]: The Indian state of Uttar Pradesh witnessed heavy rainfall and powerful storms that caused widespread destruction and killed at least 33 people, Press Trust of India reported.

    The storm uprooted trees and electric poles, swept away wires, damaged residential structures, and disrupted communication networks, making restoration efforts difficult.

    As per details available with VoM News, 16 people died in Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh, nine deaths were reported from Fatehpur, five from Budaun, two from Chandauli, and one death was reported from Sonbhadra.

    Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in his message, expressed condolences to the victims’ families and directed the authorities to provide immediate relief and compensation.

    Keeping agricultural losses in consideration, revenue officials have been instructed to assess the damage caused by heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds, and ensure assistance to the affected families.
