Heatwave Persists in Jammu, Pleasant Outlook for Kashmir: Forecast
The latest weather report forecasts continued heatwave conditions in the Jammu division, while the Kashmir Valley can expect generally pleasant weather for the next nine days.
According to a local MeT department advisory, dry and hot weather with a heatwave in the plains of the Jammu division will persist until June 4th. However, the Valley will remain unaffected by heatwaves during this period.
Today’s minimum temperatures were as follows: Srinagar 15°C, Gulmarg 6°C, and Pahalgam 8.4°C. In Jammu city, the minimum temperature was 30.1°C, Katra 28.3°C, Batote 17.9°C, Banihal 26.2°C, and Bhaderwah 12.2°C. Yesterday, maximum temperatures reached 28°C in Srinagar and 43.7°C in Jammu.
The forecast includes isolated light rain and thunderstorms in Kashmir and the Pirpanjal region, while the plains of Jammu division will experience hot and dry weather. Night temperatures across J&K increased, except in Gulmarg.
From June 3rd to 4th, generally dry weather is expected across J&K. From June 5th to 7th, generally cloudy weather with intermittent light to moderate rain and thunderstorms is likely in many places. From June 8th to 9th, partly to generally cloudy weather is anticipated. The official emphasized that the plains of the Jammu division will experience generally hot and dry weather with a heatwave from June 2nd to 4th, with no heatwave expected in the Kashmir division over the next eight days.
