In an effort to promote sports awareness and nurture young talent, the district youth services and sports department Doda has organized a week-long inter-district provincial level volleyball competition. Today, we witnessed the thrilling start of the under 19 girls’ competition at the picturesque sports Stadium in Doda.
Heading 2: The Dawn of a New Volleyball Era
The under 19 girls’ competition marked the culmination of two successful days of volleyball action, with under 14 and under 17 girls’ categories concluding yesterday. The spotlight has now shifted to the under 19 girls’ category, where teams from across Jammu province have gathered to showcase their skills and passion for the sport.
Heading 3: Dignitaries and Inspiration
The event commenced with grandeur, as Sh. Pran Singh (JKAS), Assistant Development Commissioner, Doda, inaugurated the competition. Joined by esteemed dignitaries, including Jaffer Haider, District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Doda, and Neeta Manhas, I/c ZPEO Bhalla, the opening ceremony was a celebration of sportsmanship and unity.
Heading 4: The Spirit of Sportsmanship
Before the matches began, a powerful sports pledge was taken by all dignitaries, officials, and participants. This pledge served as a reminder of the values of sportsmanship and fair play that underpin the competition. It was a testament to the commitment of all involved to uphold the integrity of the game.
The Assistant Development Commissioner, Doda, Sh. Pran Singh, delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the vital role of sports in the holistic development of youth. He encouraged all participants, offering his warm wishes for their future endeavors. He also commended the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Doda, for organizing this event in a distinctive and engaging manner.
As the competition progressed, Udhampur emerged as one of the semifinalists by defeating Poonch. They are set to compete tomorrow at the same venue with the other semifinalists, promising even more exciting volleyball action.
