Four Arrested for Fake Accident in Ramban

Police on Sunday claimed to have solved a case of staged accident by arresting four people in Ramban district.

In a handout, the police said that On 14th September (morning) an information was received at Police Station Ramsoo through reliable sources that a Truck bearing registration No. JK20C-3611 driven by Mohd Shabir S/o Ghulam Nabi R/O Tuli Reasi on its way from Jammu towards Srinagar rolled down into a deep gorge about 350-400 mtrs in Panthyal area on NHW -44.

On the basis of information a case FIR-106/2024 U/S 281 BNS was registered at PS Ramsoo and Police team headed by SDPO Banihal along with SHO Ramsoo visited the scene of crime and noticed some foul play in the accident.

According to police spokesman, SSP Ramban sensing the gravity of foul play in the accident, constituted a Special Police Team to ascertain the fact behind the fake accident. During the course of investigation the Police team traced the driver of above said vehicle namely Mohd Shabir.

During questioning driver Mohd Shabir disclosed that on 12.09.2024 on the directions of the owner of above said truck namely Mohd Abdullah son of Abdul resident of Tuli, Tehsil Chassana District Reasi he loaded the consignment of dry fruits (400 boxes)from Gangyal for Srinagar. During the intervening night of 12/13 September the consignment of dry fruits which was to be delivered at Srinagar was shifted to another truck near Ban Toll Plaza area by the owner of above said Truck along with 02 more persons and kept only 10-15 boxes in the truck to be delivered at Srinagar.

The owner of the above said truck namely Mohd Abdullah hatched criminal conspiracy to hush up the consignment of the dry fruits, the truck driver namely Mohd Shabir Son of Gh. Nabi resident of Tuli Tehsil Chassana District Reasi was directed to manag the accident of truck on NH-44 preferably in Panthyal area, he said.

Accordingly, Mohd Shabir driver of above said truck managed the accident of the truck by rolling the same into the deep gorge and spread 10 to 15 dry fruits boxes at the accident site so that the accident may appear natural and thereafter he managed to escape from the spot, he said.
