    Five Arrested in kulgam South Kashmir for Illegal Mineral Extraction and Transportation

    In a continued effort to combat individuals engaged in the unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals, the police took decisive action on Tuesday, resulting in the apprehension of five individuals and the confiscation of five vehicles in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir.

    A spokesperson for the police reported that a team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) HQRS Kulgam and assisted by the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Kulgam Police Station, conducted patrols at Matalhama, Kulgam. Under the vigilant supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS, the team successfully arrested five individuals, all identified as drivers.

    The arrested individuals have been named as Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh, residing in Sumarbugh, Lasian; Sameer Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Muhammad Dar, from Zanipora, Pampora; Fayaz Ahmad Reshi, son of Nazir Ahmad Reshi, residing in Lethpora, Pulwama; Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, also from Lethpora, Pulwama; and Javid Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Sultan Dar, residing in Lethpora, Pulwama.

    Simultaneously, the police successfully seized five vehicles, specifically dumpers, which were implicated in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. A case (FIR No. 04/2024) has been registered at the Kulgam Police Station under the relevant sections of the law, and a comprehensive investigation is now underway to address the illegal activities associated with mineral extraction and transportation.
