The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Gohar Khan, Secretary General Omar Ayub, and spokesperson Raoof Hasan over a controversial social media post made from former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s account, as reported by Dawn.

The post, shared on May 26, urged Pakistanis to study the Hamood ur Rahman Commission Report to discern who the “true traitor” was—General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The accompanying video implied that Yahya Khan was responsible for Pakistan’s 1971 breakup, highlighting alleged military atrocities during the civil war. It also featured images of current civilian and military leaders, accusing them of stealing PTI’s mandate in the general elections.

This post triggered significant backlash, especially from government officials. The FIA’s Cyber Wing initiated an investigation into the post, labeling it as “highly obnoxious and inciting content” against state institutions, which could provoke public fear or offenses against the state.

On Friday, PTI “owned” the post, reaffirming their call for transparency regarding the Hamood ur Rahman Commission report and urging the military to adhere to constitutional limits. After a core committee meeting, PTI accused the FIA of trying to fabricate another case against Imran Khan.

An FIA team visited Adiala Jail to question Imran Khan about the post, but he refused to meet the investigators without his lawyer present. Notices sent to Barrister Gohar, Ayub, and Hasan directed them to appear before FIA Sub-Inspector Muhammad Monib Zafar to record their statements. The notices warned that non-attendance would lead to proceedings under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code, addressing non-compliance with public servant orders.
