DODA, AUGUST 22: A pivotal meeting was held in Doda to review the financial management and expenditure monitoring mechanisms ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024.
The meeting, chaired by Election Expenditure Observer Arshdeep Singh and District Election Officer (DEO) Harvinder Singh, took place in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The gathering saw participation from key officials, including Returning Officers (ROs), Deputy District Election Officer (Dy DEO) Doda, District Treasury Officer (DTO) Doda, heads of various banks, and other crucial stakeholders.
The primary focus was to ensure strict compliance with the Election Commission of India’s guidelines on election expenditure. Arshdeep Singh stressed the necessity of transparency and accountability to uphold the integrity of the electoral process. He underscored the critical role that financial monitoring plays in fair elections.
DEO Harvinder Singh provided specific instructions to ROs and other officials, emphasizing the need for effective monitoring at the grassroots level.
Discussions also highlighted the role of bank officials in overseeing financial transactions related to election campaigns, ensuring that these are closely monitored to prevent any irregularities.
Additionally, the importance of coordination between various departments and agencies was emphasized to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the elections.
The meeting concluded with directives for the timely submission of expenditure reports, vigilant monitoring of election-related expenses, and prompt action against any violations.
Officials were reminded to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, given the significance of the upcoming Assembly Elections for the region.
