Educator Legacy Award: Honoring a Lifetime of Impact

The Educator Legacy Award (ELA) celebrates one outstanding retiring educator who has made a lasting difference in the lives of their students.

Now through March 31, the public is invited to nominate a recently retired or soon-to-retire teacher or administrator for this special recognition. The chosen educator will receive a $5,000 Road Scholar voucher to embark on a learning adventure of their choice, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in lifelong education.

We’ve already received inspiring nominations, including one from Beverley, who nominated her friend and former colleague June from Massachusetts. Here’s an excerpt from her submission:

“June brings learning to life with creative, hands-on projects that spark curiosity and imagination. Her students and colleagues admire her for her warmth, joy, and unwavering support. A passionate traveler, June explored Greece in 2017, immersing herself in the history and culture of Athens. She often told her students, ‘Travel is the best education you can get.’ After being widowed in 2022 and recently completing cancer treatment, June is ready to embrace travel once more—this time, free from the constraints of a school schedule. For her, travel isn’t just a memory; it’s a way of life, meant to be shared and celebrated.”
