ECI to Announce Assembly Election Schedule Today

SRINAGAR: The Election Commission (EC) is set to announce the schedule for assembly elections on Friday afternoon.

An EC invite to the media for a press conference at around 3 pm did not specify the states for which the election schedule would be announced.

The legislative assemblies of Haryana and Maharashtra have their terms ending on November 3 and November 26, respectively. Additionally, the poll panel plans to conduct assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir before September 30, adhering to the Supreme Court’s deadline.

The Election Commission has recently visited Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana to oversee poll preparedness but has yet to visit Maharashtra.
