In a continued operation to flush out terrorists from a forested hilly terrain in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, security forces have deployed drones to pinpoint the locations of the terrorists. The operation, which is based on specific intelligence inputs, has entered its third day.
Operation Status
Additional Director General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar confirmed that the operation is ongoing and is aimed at neutralizing the two to three trapped terrorists. He cautioned retired police and Army officers against speculating on the operation in the media and advised them to avoid suggesting ambush hypotheses.
Use of Mortar Shells and Aerial Surveillance
As the gunfight extended into its third day, security forces resorted to firing mortar shells towards the forest area on the mountainous terrain where the terrorists were believed to be hiding. Drones have been deployed for aerial surveillance to aid in tracking the terrorists’ movements and positions.
Tight Cordon Maintained
A tight cordon has been maintained by security forces in the area to ensure the terrorists do not escape and to protect the safety of civilians in the vicinity.
