DRI Seizes Drugs Worth Rs 13 Crore from Woman Passenger at Mumbai Airport
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) revealed a major drug bust at Mumbai’s CSMI Airport, seizing drugs valued at Rs 13 crore from a female passenger arriving from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The individual, a national of Cote d’Ivoire in West Africa, was apprehended based on intelligence gathered by DRI officials.
The operation, carried out on December 21, 2023, led to the interception of the woman, who arrived via Flight No. ET 640. Upon inspection, DRI officers discovered drugs hidden within her handbag, amounting to 1,273 grams and valued at Rs 13 crore.
As per the official statement, the passenger has been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Authorities are actively engaged in an ongoing investigation to trace additional links within the drug supply chain.
