DRDO Develops Lightest Bulletproof Jacket for Level 6 Threat
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has unveiled the lightest bulletproof jacket designed to withstand the highest threat level 6, according to an official statement.
Developed by the Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE) in Kanpur, this jacket offers protection against 7.62 x 54 R API ammunition. Successfully tested at the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) in Chandigarh, the jacket meets BIS 17051-2018 standards, employing innovative design and materials. Its front Hard Armour Panel (HAP) can withstand multiple hits of 7.62 x 54 R API sniper rounds, ensuring enhanced wearability and comfort during operations.
The Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO applauded DMSRDE for this achievement in protective gear development.
