Donate for Desh Campaign of Congress Party Receives Rs 2.81 Crore Within 48 Hours

The Congress party’s crowdfunding campaign, “Donate for Desh,” initiated by Mallikarjun Kharge, amassed an impressive Rs 2.81 crore from over 1.13 lakh contributors within 48 hours of its launch.

Primarily transacted through UPI (80%), the donation drive encountered approximately 20,000 cyber attacks, including 1,340 attempts to steal data, with most attacks originating from overseas, as per party sources.

Notably, prominent figures like Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders contributed over Rs 1 lakh each, amassing a significant portion of the total funds.

To further bolster fundraising efforts, the Congress plans to explore innovative methods, including the sale of exclusive merchandise such as caps autographed by Gandhi, mugs, and t-shirts.

Maharashtra emerged as the top contributor, followed by Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka. Despite smaller individual amounts, Bihar witnessed significant participation.

Emphasizing on expanding outreach, a party leader highlighted the campaign’s goal of fostering stronger connections with the masses.

With over one crore people engaging with the application, the crowdfunding drive aims to gain momentum during the December 28 Nagpur rally, marking the party’s foundation day. Additionally, the Congress plans to appoint observers in various states to bolster the campaign further.

The donation initiative, synchronized with the 138th anniversary of the Congress, finds inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s historic “Tilak Swaraj Fund” of 1920-21.

The initiative envisions empowering the party towards creating an India with equitable resource distribution and abundant opportunities.

To facilitate contributions, the party established two online channels: a dedicated portal at donateinc.in and the official Congress website at inc.in.

The campaign urges donors to contribute in multiples of Rs 138, symbolizing the Congress’ enduring commitment to building a brighter future for India.
