
Doda Police Detain Four Under BNSS for Alleged Assault on Tourist in Bhaderwah
Doda Police have taken preventive action under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) after receiving a complaint regarding the alleged assault of a tourist in the Bhaderwah area.
According to officials, a written complaint was lodged on February 6, 2026, at Police Station Bhaderwah by Suresh Kumar, son of Dileep Chand and a resident of Nagni Bhalra, Tehsil Bhaderwah. The complaint alleged that a tourist was assaulted, raising concerns over public order and safety in the area.
Taking prompt cognisance of the matter and with the aim of preventing any further escalation or breach of peace, Doda Police initiated preventive proceedings under Sections 126 and 170 of the BNSS on February 7, 2026.
In connection with the case, four persons were detained: Javed Iqbal, son of Ali Mohammad, resident of Kholra Basti, Bhaderwah; Owais Ahmed, son of Showket Ali, also a resident of Kholra Basti; Khursheed Ahmed, son of Mohammad Yasir, resident of Nalthi, Bhaderwah; and Avinash Manhas, son of Vipin Manhas, resident of Nalthi, Tehsil Bhaderwah.
All four detained individuals have been produced before the Executive Magistrate First Class, Bhaderwah, for further legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining law and order, Doda Police said it remains steadfast in ensuring the safety and security of tourists visiting the region. Police officials warned that any act disturbing public peace, harmony, or safety will be dealt with strictly as per legal provisions, emphasising their resolve to maintain a safe, secure, and tourist-friendly environment in Bhaderwah and across the district.
