Impressive Start: Doda Girls Triumph in Divisional Cricket Tournament
The girls’ cricket team from Doda made a remarkable entry in the inter-district Divisional level tournament in Udhampur, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports. They kicked off the tournament with a stunning 73-run victory over Samba, laying a strong foundation for their exceptional performance throughout the event.
In the semi-finals, Doda’s decision to bat first after winning the toss proved fruitful. Setting a formidable target of 160 runs, Maica’s splendid 71-run knock and Shaweta Singh’s valuable 54 runs were the highlights. The Doda bowlers then took center stage, limiting Jammu to just 14 runs, thus clinching a massive 145-run victory and earning their spot in the finals.
Nail-Biting Finale
The final match against Udhampur was a test of nerves and skill. Chasing a target of 69 runs, the Doda team displayed tenacity, successfully achieving the target in the dramatic last over with a boundary by Sharuti. This victory underscored the team’s resilience and determination.
Team Effort and Coaching Brilliance
The Doda girls’ cricket team’s success can be attributed to the combined efforts and skills of the players, astute strategic decisions by coach Mr. Vinod Kumar and Satya Devi, and the motivational guidance of Jaffer Haider Sheikh, DYSSO Doda. Their collective dedication and strategy were pivotal in steering the team towards this triumphant outcome.
This victory not only celebrates the talent and spirit of the Doda girls’ cricket team but also serves as an inspiration, highlighting the importance of teamwork, strategy, and dedicated guidance in achieving success in sports.
