DMK Manifesto: No CAA, Uniform Civil Code; Chief Minister to Approve Governor
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, announcing that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will not be implemented in the state. Chief Minister MK Stalin criticized the BJP, accusing it of destroying India and pledged to fulfill election promises. The manifesto highlighted special schemes for Tamil Nadu and district-specific initiatives.
Key Points of the Manifesto
The DMK manifesto criticized the Governor’s office, advocating for the appointment of a Governor in consultation with the Chief Minister and proposed amending Article 361 to remove immunity from criminal proceedings for Governors. Additionally, it proposed making Thirukural the ‘National Book’ and opposed the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) and NEET in Tamil Nadu.

The party announced its first list of 21 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, including 12 new candidates. Notable candidates include Kanimozhi contesting from Thoothukudi, Kalanidhi Veerasami from North Chennai, and A Raja from Nilgiris. The DMK is contesting in alliance with the Congress, with other allies including VCK, CPM, and CPI.
