
DM Doda Chairs 15th District-Level NCORD Committee Meeting to Combat Drug Abuse
Doda, September 26: District Magistrate (DM) Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Abdul Qayoom, led the 15th district-level committee meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) in his office chamber. The primary focus was on discussing measures to combat drug abuse and the narcotics trade in the district.
Declaration of Drug-Free Panchayats
The meeting revolved around formalities with stakeholders to declare an additional 100 panchayats in the district as drug-free, in addition to the existing 61 panchayats. The committee also considered recommendations regarding the sale of psychotropic drugs by designated medical stores. It was decided that medical shops equipped with CCTV cameras and proper computerized billing records would be allowed to sell psychotropic drugs, provided they meet quality standards prescribed by registered medical practitioners.

Awareness Programs and Comprehensive Efforts
DM Mahajan commended the stakeholders for their efforts in reducing drug abuse and trafficking levels in the district. He emphasized the need for comprehensive awareness programs against drug abuse, particularly within educational institutions. Stakeholders were instructed to conduct awareness drives in schools, colleges, and other relevant places, involving both young people and parents.
Sustained Efforts and Coordination
Mahajan stressed the importance of sustained efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat substance abuse. He urged stakeholders to coordinate their actions for effective results.
Property Accumulation and Monitoring
The SSP instructed police officers to monitor the activities and property acquired by drug peddlers involved in various cases since 2010. Officers were tasked with submitting the necessary data and documents to identify 100 more panchayats as drug-free in the district.
Addressing Drug Addiction Issues
During the meeting, various issues related to drug addiction were discussed, including areas of concern and hot spots of drug abuse in the district. Participants also reviewed the actions taken based on the directives issued in previous NCORD meetings.
The meeting saw the presence of several officials, including ADC Doda Dr. RK Bharti, ADC Bhaderwah Ch. Dilmir, SDMs, ASP Bhaderwah, SDPOs, Tehsildars, Dy SP Headquarter, DFO Doda, DSWO Doda, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Drugs Controller Officer, a representative from the Intelligence Bureau, and other stakeholders.
