Kishtwar, August 17, 2024: Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan-JKAS, District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar, presided over a crucial meeting with political party representatives today.
The meeting aimed to highlight the significance of adhering to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and other guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in preparation for the upcoming General Elections to the Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir in 2024.
The primary focus of the meeting was to ensure that all political parties maintain the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and transparency throughout the electoral process.
Key discussion points included compliance with MCC regulations, obtaining necessary permissions for media advertisements and campaign vehicles, and the timely opening of candidate bank accounts. These measures are vital for maintaining a just and equitable electoral environment.
Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan reaffirmed the essential role of political parties in upholding democratic values and called for full cooperation with the ECI’s guidelines.
He stressed the importance of ethical conduct and responsibility to set a positive example for a free, fair, and peaceful election.
The DEO expressed confidence that all political parties would adhere to the guidelines, fostering a conducive environment for the smooth conduct of the Legislative Assembly Elections 2024.
The meeting saw participation from ERO 49-Kishtwar/ADC Kishtwar Pawan Kotwal-JKAS, Dy DEO Kishtwar Idrees Ahmed Lone-JKAS, Election Naib Tehsildar Angrez Singh Jasrotia, Master Trainer Riyaz Ahmed Butt, and other election officials, alongside political party representatives.
