Srinagar, August 23: Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, Shri R.R. Swain, visited the Doda and Kishtwar districts today to evaluate security measures and review preparations for the Legislative Assembly Elections-2024.
Accompanied by senior officials including Spl DG and DGP Designate Shri Nalin Prabhat, ADGP Law and Order Shri Vijay Kumar, and ADGP Jammu Zone Shri Anand Jain, the DGP began his visit with a review of security arrangements at Shri Machail Mata Mandir in Machail Padder for the ongoing Machail Mata Yatra-2024.
During his day-long visit, DGP Swain held high-level meetings at the District Police Office (DPO) in Kishtwar and at Dak Bungalow, Bhaderwah in Doda district.
These meetings focused on refining security strategies for the upcoming elections, with directives issued to tackle terrorism and ensure a free and fair electoral process. Emphasis was placed on coordinated efforts among J&K Police, CRPF, Army, civil administration, and intelligence agencies.
Discussions also covered logistical arrangements, including adequate accommodation and amenities for election-deployed troops.
SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Abdul Qayoom, and SSP Doda, Shri Mohd Aslam, presented detailed updates on current security conditions and election preparations.
The DGP also inspected the Police Control Room (PCR) and CCTV Surveillance Room in Kishtwar, calling for enhanced surveillance and monitoring.
Prior to his meetings, DGP Swain and his team paid homage to fallen J&K Police heroes at the martyrs’ memorial in Kishtwar.
