    Delhi Universities Partner with Kashmiri-Dogri Academy for Cultural Language Courses

    A specialized academy is set to be established to provide language courses in Kashmiri and Dogri at prominent institutions such as Delhi University, Ambedkar University Delhi, and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) in New Delhi, according to a report by The Indian Express.The initiative aims to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the languages and cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly following the diaspora of J&K’s population, mainly comprised of displaced migrants who have resettled in New Delhi.

    The Delhi Development Authority has already issued directives to identify a suitable location for the establishment of the Kashmiri-Dogri Academy, as mentioned in the report.According to The Indian Express, the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) VK Saxena has presided over two meetings related to this initiative.

    The Arts, Culture, and Languages (ACL) Department, the Education Department, and the universities in Delhi will play crucial roles in this endeavor.As per an official quoted by The Indian Express, “While the cultural academy for J&K will be operational within six months, Delhi University, GGSIPU, and Ambedkar University Delhi have been entrusted with the responsibility of teaching Kashmiri and Dogri languages.

    The details regarding this arrangement are currently under development. Once established, the J&K academy will collaborate with the universities, sharing its personnel and expertise to impart linguistic and cultural knowledge to students.

    “The report further notes that the L-G, VK Saxena, has discussed this matter with Lieutenant Governor JK Manoj Sinha, who has pledged support in the form of providing teaching staff, linguistic experts, and study materials to ensure the success of this language and cultural preservation initiative.
