The accused sharpshooters fired five rounds during this altercation, with two bullets striking a policeman’s bulletproof jacket. In response, the police team fired six rounds at the accused, successfully neutralizing the threat. Background of the Accused and Recovery of Arms

The arrested sharpshooters have been identified as Rajpreet Singh, 25, from Firozpur, and Virender Singh, 22, from Bathinda. During the shootout, Virender Singh sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. Both individuals were treated at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital before their arrest. The police recovered a significant cache of weapons from the accused, including two pistols, live cartridges, a hand grenade, and a stolen bike. The duo faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Explosive Substances Act, and the Arms Act.

Additional Arrests and Criminal Backgrounds

Following the disclosures made by the apprehended individuals, police conducted a raid in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar district, resulting in the arrest of an associate, Sachin Bhati. Rajpreet Singh is also wanted in connection with a murder case from January 2023, while Virender Singh has a criminal history involving a firing incident in Punjab.
