Delhi High Court Refuses to Stop CJP’s October 16 Protest at Connaught Place Central Park
NEW DELHI, October 15, 2026 [VoM News]: The Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to restrain the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) from holding its planned protest at Central Park in Connaught Place on October 16, while recording Delhi Police’s assurance that it would take lawful measures to regulate the gathering.
A bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Nitin Wasudeo Sambre and Justice Sanjay Sharma was hearing a petition filed by a licensed street vendor seeking restrictions on the demonstration over concerns about disruption to traders during the festive period.
Authorities told the court that measures were already being taken to regulate the protest.
Later, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation announced that Central Park would remain closed to the general public on October 16 and 17 due to “administrative reasons.” It was not immediately clear how the closure would affect the planned demonstration.

The protest follows demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Separately, the Supreme Court on Thursday issued notices to the Election Commission and its commissioners on petitions concerning SIR-related decisions.
