Delhi-HC Rejects Omar-Abdullah Divorce Plea Citing Lack of Merit in Allegations of Cruelty
Media reports indicate that the Delhi High Court has rejected the divorce plea filed by former JK National Conference leader Omar Abdullah against his estranged wife, Payal Abdullah.
The bench, comprising justices Sanjeev Sachdeva and Vikas Mahajan, upheld the family court’s decision, stating that there is no flaw in its order denying divorce to Omar Abdullah. The bench specifically noted that the allegations of cruelty made by Abdullah were vague and lacked merit.
Omar Abdullah had sought a divorce on the grounds of cruelty, claiming that he had been subjected to mistreatment by his estranged wife.

The trial court had previously dismissed Abdullah’s plea on August 30, 2016, stating that he failed to substantiate his claims of “cruelty” or “desertion,” which were the basis for his request for a divorce decree.
The Delhi High Court concurred with the trial court’s findings, emphasizing the lack of merit in Abdullah’s appeal and ultimately dismissing it.
