Delhi CM Kejriwal’s Judicial Custody Extended
The Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday prolonged the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and BRS Leader K Kavitha in the excise policy case. Kejriwal’s custody was extended till May 20, 2024, while Kavitha’s was extended till May 14 in the ED case and May 20 in the CBI case.
Kejriwal, arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement on March 21, 2024, awaits a decision on interim bail from the Supreme Court. The court, responding to applications by the ED, agreed to extend the custody of Kejriwal, Kavitha, and Chanpreet Singh in the ongoing excise policy case.
BRS Leader K Kavitha, arrested by the ED on March 15, 2024, and by the CBI on April 11, 2024, faces scrutiny regarding the excise policy. The investigations delve into allegations of irregularities and undue favours in policy modifications, resulting in substantial losses to the exchequer.
