Defence Minister Assures Swift Action Against Recent Drone Attack; Celebrates INS Imphal’s Commissioning
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh declared a staunch response to the recent drone attack on a ship in the Arabian Sea, affirming that the government would diligently pursue and take stringent measures against those responsible. Speaking in Mumbai, Singh emphasized the heightened turmoil at sea and India’s burgeoning economic and strategic prowess, noting the government’s grave concern regarding the attacks on ‘MV Chem Pluto’ in the Arabian Sea and ‘MV Sai Baba’ in the Red Sea. He assured intensified naval surveillance to trace and hold the perpetrators accountable, asserting that justice would prevail.
Singh reiterated India’s pivotal role as the net security provider in the Indian Ocean Region, ensuring the elevation of maritime trade to new heights with allied nations. He emphasized India’s commitment to safeguard Sea Lanes, ensuring secure maritime commerce alongside friendly countries.
During the commissioning ceremony of INS Imphal at the Naval Dockyard, Singh hailed the vessel as a symbol of India’s naval might. INS Imphal, named after the Northeast’s glory, was sanctioned in Delhi and belongs to the 15B project, uniting four major cities—Visakhapatnam, Murmugaon, Imphal, and Surat. This vessel, part of the Visakhapatnam class, symbolizes India’s unity, encompassing the country’s diverse geographical aspects.
Singh highlighted INS Imphal’s distinction as a completely indigenous creation, a testament to the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Notably, it was crafted through collaborations involving Brahmos Aerospace, Larsen and Toubro (L&T), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), several startups, and Micro, Small, and Medium
