Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sakro Wajid Ali revealed that the ill-fated journey unfolded when the truck, transporting pilgrims from Thatta, veered off course and plunged into a ravine en route to the shrine. SDPO Ali attributed the tragic incident to a sharp turn during the journey, highlighting the precarious nature of the pilgrimage route.
Rescue operations swiftly commenced following the distress call, with social worker Saad Edhi noting the challenges posed by limited mobile network coverage in the area. Despite these hurdles, response efforts were prompt, with preparations underway to transport the deceased to their hometown in Thatta for burial.
Contrary to speculations, relatives of the victims dismissed claims of a race between drivers, asserting that the tragedy resulted from the truck losing control while navigating a turn. They recounted the horrifying experience of passengers falling from the vehicle, leading to fatal consequences.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti issued directives for immediate medical assistance to the injured, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. Emergency measures were promptly initiated, with arrangements made to transfer critically injured individuals to Karachi for advanced medical care.
