
DDC Council Reviews Development Works and Proposes Additional Projects.

In a recent District Development Council (DDC) meeting held in Doda, the Chairman, Dhananter Singh Kotwal, led discussions to assess the physical and financial progress of various projects funded under DDC, BDC, and PRI grants. Commissioner Secretary to the Government, RDD, Mandeep Kaur, participated in the meeting virtually.
Overview of Sanctioned and Ongoing Projects
During the meeting, attendees reviewed the status of tendering processes, allotment of works, projects initiated on the ground, and those that had been completed. Out of a total of 2670 sanctioned works, 2509 developmental projects were tendered. Among these, 1449 works have been commenced, with some already completed and dedicated for public use.
Comprehensive Departmental Review
The meeting also featured an in-depth review of various departments, including PDD, JSD (PHE), PWD, Education, Health, Forest, I&FC, RDD, and others. Bottlenecks hindering the progress of some sanctioned projects and unfeasible works were discussed, leading to necessary resolutions and directions for improvement in public service delivery.
Identification of Additional Works
Council members identified additional works during the meeting, and the respective departments were instructed to submit feasibility reports within two days for necessary approval and execution of these projects.
Teacher Rationalization and Adjustment
The meeting addressed teacher rationalization and the adjustment of 124 newly recruited contractual teachers. To date, 95 of these teachers have been placed in schools facing a significant need for teaching staff.
Empowering Local Governance
Chairman Dhananter Singh Kotwal emphasized the importance of collaboration between officers and engineering departments to meet the expectations of the public. He urged officers to consult with PRIs (Panchayati Raj Institutions) for work identification and execution within their jurisdictions, prioritizing public interest.
The DDC meeting was attended by various officials, including Vice Chairperson DDC Doda, BDC Chairpersons, DDC Councillors, ADDC Doda (CEO of the Council), and representatives from different government departments, highlighting the collaborative efforts to drive development in the region.
