Kishtwar, Jan 14, 2026: In a major administrative action to enforce discipline and expedite the digitization of Jamabandis, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar has taken strict action against several revenue officials for poor performance, negligence of duties and non-compliance with government directions.

As per an official order issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, the salaries of Mr Nisar Ahmad Beigh, Patwari Halqa Chenger, and Javeed Iqbal, Patwari Halqa Dehrana have been withheld till further orders. The action has been taken in view of their poor performance in the digitization of Jamabandis and to ensure discipline and effective utilization of services in public interest.

In a separate but related order, the Deputy Commissioner has placed Shri Vijay Kumar, OP Naib Tehsildar, presently holding additional charge of PH Sohal, under suspension with immediate effect for dereliction of duties and negligence in the discharge of official responsibilities. The order states that despite repeated instructions and review meetings held on January 11 and 12, 2026, the official failed to carry out assigned tasks and significantly delayed the digitization process of Jamabandis in the district.

The order further mentions that Shri Vijay Kumar not only failed to show progress but also openly defied directions issued by the Revenue Department to fast-track digitization work, thereby creating administrative issues at the tehsil level. During the suspension period, the official will remain attached to the SDM Marwah, and subsistence allowance will be provided as admissible under rules, subject to attendance.

The SDM Marwah has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter and submit a report along with recommendations within 30 days for further action. Meanwhile, the charge of PH Sohal has been entrusted to Shri Vijay Kumar Sharma, OP SDM Office Paddar, in addition to his own duties until further orders.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that laxity, negligence and non-performance, especially in key governance reforms like digitization of land records, will not be tolerated. The administration, the order added, remains committed to ensuring accountability, discipline and efficient public service delivery across District Kishtwar.
